Treat Yourself!

Stressed out about a long busy week ahead? Need to get away? Instead, treat yourself to your own at home mani-pedi with a friend or two! Here are a few tips to creating the perfect at home manicure & pedicure.

• Tools you will need: Nail file, Shaping buff, Nail polish remover, cuticle lotion & stick, lotion, undercoat polish, top coat and your favorite nail polish!

1. Begin with removing any old nail polish with nail polish remover and file nail edge to your preference. ( I prefer short and square!)
2. Next, buff the top of nail to get rid of any ridges and create a nice shine.
3. After buffing, put on cuticle lotion and let sit for 2 minutes. When the 2 minutes is up, push back your cuticles and trim them if necessary.
4. When your nails are done and managed to your preference, soak in warm water to rinse off the cuticle lotion.
5. If your with a friend, now is the time to pamper each other by giving a nice hand massage. Use the lotion for the massage but try to not get on the nail. If any lotion does get on the nails, don't worry, just grab some rubbing alcohol and put it over the nail so that the polish will stick when applied.
6. Now, apply an undercoat of polish. This helps to maintain your nail growth, strength and also helps to keep the color on longer!
7. Now is the fun part! Grab your favorite nail polish ( Try SpaRitual nail polish in Airhead, one of my new favorites!) and apply in a downward motion moving away from the cuticle for a perfect streak free look. Apply as many coats as desired. ( the nice thing about spa rituals nail polish is you only have to apply once!) Let dry for 5 to 10 minutes.
8. After your polish has dried, apply a top coat to ensure that your color will stay on for the crazy buy week to come!

Say Goodbye to Dry Skin!

Do you have dry skin? Not anymore! Here are a few tips to help you keep your skin hydrated especially for these hot days!
1. Drink tons of water!

• On average per day, an adult should drink at least 1.5 fl/oz of water.
• In reality, we don't always drink enough water or we tend to get bored of it. Instead of reaching for a sugary drink, here are a few ideas to give your water some flavor the natural way! Next time you get tired of drinking plain old water try adding slices of lemon to your water to give it some flavor all while getting some vitamin C and creating a radiant glow for your skin. Also, if your not in to mood or you don't like lemons, try slicing up a cucumber and dropping the slices into your water for some essential vitamins. Cucumber water is said to be very calming and relaxing and can keep you hydrated and feeling great!

2. Moisturize Daily!

• Try to find a moisturizer that does not have a lot of fragrance because the alcohol in the fragrance is a main cause of drying out your skin, thus the reason why it feels like you have to apply it more often.
• Look for a moisturizer that has Vitamin E as well as Shea Butter for extra hydration. Try Jergans Sea Butter Body Lotion (around $6.00) at all major Drugstores as well as Target and Walmart.

3. Always Use SPF!

• Before going outside, make sure you ALWAYS put SPF on at least your face.
• Make sure the SPF is at least 25 or higher sun protection.
• If you know you are going to be spending the day outside i.e going to the beach, going to the park etc. wear a hat to shade your face so you wont dry it out and you can protect it from free radical damage.
